Lions Hope to Cover Fourth Straight Against Jaguars

The Detroit Lions have clawed back into the playoff race in the NFC, and they are going to be involved in a game in which they are going to have to win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Detroit is a favorite on the NFL odds by a field goal on the road at EverBank Field, and the public has been all over it according to SBR Forum, as over 70% of the bets are on the Lions.

Life has been grand for the Lions of late, as they have won two of their last three games and have covered three in a row. They beat the Seattle Seahawks last year, coming back from a double digit deficit to win against another team that is going to be in the thick of things when push comes to shove.

It's not all good for Detroit, though. The biggest problem is going to be getting WR Calvin Johnson into the swing of things again. The man who led the league in receiving last year has had just six catches for 80 yards over the course of his last two games combined, and he only has a total of one touchdown on the entire season.

In spite of that though, QB Matthew Stafford has averaged just over 300 passing yards per game, but he only has eight touchdown passes. Last week was the first time that he threw for more than one touchdown this year.

It also doesn't help for the Lions that they haven't had a great history against the Jags. These two teams last met four years ago in a game that ended in a 38-14 loss for the host Lions. Jacksonville has covered three in a row in this series, and there has been just one win all-time in this series for Detroit. The Lions won that game 44-0 in impressive fashion, but that game was now 17 years ago.
