The Detroit Lions released quarterback RJ Archer on Thursday to make room on the roster for Kassim Osgood, according to Pride of Detroit (SB Nation).

That news may be music to former Boise State star Kellen Moore's ears. That's one less guy he has to battle to get to the No. 2 spot. For now, Moore is looking at the No. 3 job and a place on the Lions' 53-man roster.

Detroit signed Moore, a rookie free agent who won an impressive 50 games as the Broncos' starter.

In addition to releasing Archer, the Lions also announced on Thursday morning that they have released defensive tackle Michael Cosgrove and cornerback Drew Coleman from injured reserve. This means Cosgrove and Coleman are now free agents.
